In November of 1997, I went to the SPCA to look for a new addition to my family. As I walked into the room, there seemed to be only one cage with kittens. I asked the attendant to open it for me and I took one out. I then felt as if someone or something was staring at me from behind. I turned around, and in a dark corner I saw a pair of eyes looking at me. I walked over and saw the most
beautiful brown long-haired tiger kitten with a mane like a lion and a tail like a peacock! Without even picking him up, I knew this was the kitty I wanted. Through the years, he was always the middle child-the good one who never complained when I brought home Jackson, Ramon, Morey and Darren. He was my "Jan Brady"-always in the backround, doing what he was supposed to do. On June 2 of this year, his four brothers celebrated Jean-Claude's 11th birthday with a toast of tuna water and deli turkey. I thought he had many more healthy years ahead of him. On June 20th, he was diagnosed with cancer-tumors near his lungs and heart. I thought we had more time together, but on June 25th, he told me it was time to set him free. He spent his last day on the window perch, his long mane blowing in the breeze and listening to the birds. He was so brave until the end, much braver than I was. He is now at peace at the Rainbow Bridge, where I will see him again some day. Fly with the angels, my beautiful boy!
Love,
Mama Linda
