Catnipping is what we did for fun this summer. When we drove places we kept a lookout for catnip.
We watched as the nip grew green and tall. In June we grabbed our nippers and went nipping. The crop of nip was not very large this year. We collected all we could gather.
The nip was tied into bundles. The bundles were then sent to the drying shed and hung on nails from the ceiling. Everything was processed by hand. The harvest was packed away in bins ready to fill the catnip pillows. It takes hours and hours of tedious work to create a bag of pillows.
Our Catnip Queens, Judy and Leigh, carefully choose the gaudiest, loudest cat fabrics and sewed thousands of little bags. Most of the fabric is imported from 3000 miles away.
Catnip pillows are sold at a number of local Vet offices. The sales have helped to keep Niagara Feline Friends operating.
You can order from us by mail if you don’t know where to buy them. Pillows sell for $3.00 ea. The minimum mail order would be 3 pillows with shipping and handling of $3.00 minimum. If you see a Catnip Café jar of pillows buy one to help save a kitty.
