Niagara Feline Friends
Problem:  "A female cat and her offspring can produce
420,000 cats within seven years if allowed to freely reproduce
Mission:  To help abandoned, unwanted or stray cats
We are a not-for-profit organization working in Niagara County and surrounding areas to rescue cats that have been dumped and neglected by irresponsible owners that haven’t the knowledge or the compassion to care.  Veterinary care is provided as well as a nutritious diet, a warm clean bed and much needed love. We have very devoted volunteers that clean, change bedding, trim nails, clean ears, check eyes and in general keep a keen eye out for any unusual behavior.
Our shelter is no kill, they come to us and stay until they are adopted. They live together, uncaged in a homey atmosphere.  The caring volunteers take great pride in being greeted by them as they reach out for their attention.  All agree that being in the shelter is a mind cleansing experience, having all this unconditional love surrounding them.  It’s a great way to feel the stress of the work day fade away.
We educate people on how to shelter the strays in their neighborhood with the warmth and dryness of a garage or garden shed, the simple bowl of water and some food until some arrangements can be made for more permanent care.  Many are already doing this but the numbers are so great that it becomes overwhelming and they give up in despair.
We provide humane traps to people that are feeding Feral cats in need of help and give instructions on how to use them.  We have worked with Social Services to take unwanted pets and find them homes.
The number of cats killed each year is outrageous because pet owners do not spay and neuter their pets.  We help the caretakers and owners find low cost clinics to get them spayed and neutered.  Our volunteers also work in these clinics on weekends.
Niagara Feline Friends raise funds by selling catnip bags made by a very wonderful lady that not only stuffs them with catnip but also with a lot of love.  We sell these bags and many other donated items at summer Festivals in Lewiston and at Pet Fairs.
All this would not be possible without all volunteer help.  We have no paid drivers or staff and are not funded by County or State.  Compassionate citizens are our supporters.  Thank you for joining us in our mission to stop this senseless cruelty to and killing of these beautiful domestic cats.  All donations are tax deductible and a receipt will be given for your donation.
